\nWhat, Why and How in Construction<\/h1><\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>What is a Safety Data Sheet?<\/h2><\/h2><\/div>A Safety Data Sheet (SDS)<\/strong> describes hazardous properties of a chemical substance or mixture, as well as recommended measures for safe handling, storage, disposal, and emergency response.<\/p>\nPreviously, such documents were known as MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)<\/strong>, but the term SDS<\/strong> is now officially used under EU regulations.<\/p>\nSDS documents must comply with REACH<\/strong> and CLP<\/strong> regulations and include at least 16 mandatory sections (e.g. identification, hazard classification, protective measures, transport, toxicology).<\/p>\nIt is also required that SDSs be made available to users of the chemical, free of charge, in either electronic or printed form.<\/p>\n<\/div>
