Betonmast – How they ensured high data quality and control in the Vision projects with Cobuilder
Betonmast Buskerud-Vestfold AS has for several years been one of the contractors taking digital product documentation seriously. In two of their large Vision projects, they achieved strong results using Cobuilder Collaborate: around 7,500 products documented and only 0.13% deviations. This reflects a structured and systematic approach to product documentation – and close collaboration between the contractor, subcontractors, and Cobuilder.
Early phase: Joint meetings and subcontractor alignment
In the early phase of the Vision projects, joint meetings and active use of Cobuilder in subcontractor (UE) meetingswere key to establishing structure and ensuring high data quality. Cobuilder participated from the start, helping create a shared understanding of how product documentation and deviations should be handled throughout the project.
This made it easier for subcontractors to understand the applicable requirements and how they were expected to work in Cobuilder as part of project delivery.
As Betonmast describes it:
“…we held joint meetings where Cobuilder also participated, to teach our partners how to document and work with deviations.”
This early alignment contributed to high subcontractor participation and a more efficient documentation process throughout the project.
Create shared understanding early
– and achieve better documentation flow throughout the project
With Cobuilder Collaborate all stakeholders get a clear and consistent way of working with product documentation and deviations – from project start to execution – within one shared, structured workflow.

Routines for product and deviation follow-up
Throughout the project, Betonmast worked according to clear routines for following up both products and deviations. This follow-up combined systematic use of Cobuilder with physical inspections on site.
At the same time, they highlight important learnings for future improvement:
“One learning for next time may be that we become even better at reviewing Cobuilder earlier in subcontractor meetings, as well as performing physical checks on site.”
This underlines the importance of closely linking digital workflows with actual on-site activity – especially early in the project.
Experience and learnings along the way
After project completion, Betonmast also points to an alternative method for product control as a potential learning, without it having had a decisive impact on the Vision projects.
As Design Manager Harald Verpe Dyrrdal puts it:
“One useful learning was to establish a ‘test project’, set up with the same criteria as the Vision projects, making it easier to check whether products considered for use actually meet the applicable requirements.”
This is highlighted as a possible approach in certain situations, but Betonmast emphasizes that many prefer to verify products directly within the project itself. In the Vision projects, it was early dialogue, clear expectations, and active use of Cobuilder in meetings with subcontractors that had the greatest impact.
