The relationship between 3D & Data – It’s Complicated!

View the recording

It is a Data revolution! How many presentations about BIM have you seen that start with a variation of the following statement: “BIM is not (only) about 3D”? Do you wonder why we haven’t moved on from this discussion? Well, the truth is that the relationship between 3D & Data is complicated – they are both linked but separated.

About the event:

In this online event, we will look at the current state of digital transformation in construction and will raise some important points for consideration when making the most of Data and 3D geometry as part of organisations’ digital journey.

During the webinar, we will talk about the parallel between 3D models and building Data. We will explain why pure Data, not 3D models, is at the center of the next wave for BIM and why we should keep them both linked and separated. We will also have a look at some challenges experienced in the sector that stem from keeping Data live in the visual components, rather than making it available from a central source. Finally, we will give some practical examples of how to turn product data into a valuable asset in and beyond 3D models.

Join this virtual meeting and learn more about:

– the parallel between 3D models and building Data
– the current model’s limitations
– information management best practices
– the role of industry standards in data interoperability
– future of 3D and Data
